iPimp DECO1200 Presentation 1 Before I start, is anyone younger than 18 here? iPimp What I propose is simply a pimping game. A game where it’s challenging what is possible – challenging what is lawful, moral and right. It’s an interactive game providing maximum amusement and enjoyment with competitive entertainment and bonus prizes. *click* Basically, all you do is recruit people to earn money, power and glory. These people you ‘recruit’ are called your whores. Gentlemen you are the pimps, and ladies you are the madams. Pimps and madams use the camera function to take a photo of the target, and spam everyone around them via Bluetooth with a message saying that they ‘are your bitches now’. In order for them to be free, they would have to join the game, and choose to remain loyal (and try to gang up on you with the rest of your whores) or become a cop (of course there’s always a ‘crooked’ cop). Here I added what a potential user wanted – the sides of good and evil. Also, those religious, moral, or whomever opposes the game can join and be the good cops, and try to turn everyone else who is not on their side into the jail. So what use is having recruits? They must bring you profit where you can further gain money and of course power. In the meantime, you can utilize your pimp status to make them pose for you and you can add outfits and bling to their new photos. You can game out on the streets, at parties and clubs, and then compete against each other, or in communities (otherwise known as gangs). If you want, you can also check out a map connected with Google, to display who’s owning the block. As for the being the top with the most whores and money, we will reward the best player with his or her very own outfit to match their rank. iPimp is directed for an adult market of 18+. But in reality we all know a gaming experience starts earlier (roughly 13). The user would want to play a game which they believe would deliver them an advantage. The user group would be more appealing to the male audience, gamers (who doesn’t mind annoying people with spam), people with a high priority in their social life, those who want a little personal gain in their stash (as we like being greedy). Personally, all I would like in this game is just to have a little fun and mess around with photos. I did a quick online questionnaire using my raw, initial proposal. I realized that various users want different things from the system, such as one wanted for a good game, a clever scoring system. Another person wanted facial recognition software, to track down information of the recruits. Another, a rating system for the photos taken, and definitely obtaining revenue from it. Ultimately, I can only satisfy some people, not all. To test my idea, I will develop a storyboard first of the elements involved in the game, and perhaps find alternative ideas within it. Then I set out to question, survey, and converse with the users with a visual prototype (like using index cards) and involve the users further into the design process. *click* A guy commented that ‘in the society we live in such reckless game will not be taken in because it’s about whores and pimps. Obviously family members (parents especially) would avoid getting their children involve. It’s like in an education system, it’s teaching a child how to be a pimp.’ This leads to my first question, “how would I make this game positive in a way to be allowed in mainstream society?”. Considering the unethical nature of this game, maybe now it would be readily accepted by some, but be more than disapproving to the rest. Because from what I can see now, I have most of the male audience’s attention, but not the females. So my second question is, “what incentives can I have to involve more of the female audience?” From the experience I have gained in online games where males are the majority of the population, it seems that females are more confronted by the lack of their same-sex peers, so they steer away from the alien world (or they are just plainly not interested in games). In a game like this, “would you want to be anonymous or proud of your achievements?” Some people like boasting and showing off, whilst others would want to perhaps want to be worshipped and known as the ‘mysterious X’? This is also for protecting your pimp identity, or fear of being sabotaged because you’re the big boss. Futura things I need to do is to do more research in the technical department of how I’m going to work this out if some problems; like a limited Bluetooth range, or very slow internet access would hinder the game’s capabilities. Or I could feign ignorance and say this game is to be developed in a few years time. Perhaps it’s hard for you to choose between your desires and your upright principles. But right now, *camera* you’ve all been whored!
